October 19 (Renewables Now) – French industrial gases supplier Air Liquide (EPA:AI), US oil group Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX), Dutch-based chemicals company LyondellBasell (NYSE:LYB) and German energy company Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) will study together the potential development of a low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia plant along the US Gulf Coast, according to a joint statement today.
The partners will look into the possibility of producing hydrogen from natural gas with carbon, capture and storage (CCS) and renewable hydrogen through electrolysis.
The facility could supply local industrial clusters and export clean ammonia. The project would encompass the end-to-end, energy value chain, according to the announcement, making use of the partners’ various expertise.
